A woman has sustained severe lacerations to her head, face, arms and legs after being attacked by a kangaroo in Queensland this morning.
9news understands the woman was playing gold at Arundel Place on the Gold Coast at the time of the incident.
It’s not known what prompted the attack.
Paramedics were called to the scene at 9:10 am.
The woman was transported to Pindara Private Hospital in a stable condition.
Australia has four kangaroo species— red, eastern grey, western grey and antilopine.
The eastern grey is the most common species in Queensland.
“The reality is that they can be aggressive towards people,” Queensland’s Department of Environment and Science said.
“Although the risk of this happening is very small, we still need to be wary around them.”
This comes after two other attacks last month.
