‘We’re over it’: PM vows no more pandemic government intervention

Scott Morrison says Australians have witnessed the extent of power government had in their lives during the height of the pandemic and they're "over it" as he vows to put the pandemic in the "rear vision mirror".

The Prime Minister was delivering an address of his own to an Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce event in Melbourne on Wednesday.

"We're putting this pandemic behind us and all the intervention of government in our lives that came with that," he said.

Mr Morrison said unlike his government, other "left-wing" governments globally see the pandemic as a reason to justify greater government intervention.

"We know when to step in – and we did," he said.

"But we also know when to step back and allow Australians to take the reins of the economy."
