One of Ukhozi FM’s favourite disc jockeys, Khathide Ngobe has lavished veteran radio presenter Linda Sibiya with praise as he continues to gain recognition in the radio space.
Tshatha took to social media to praise Sibiya, formerly with Ukhozi, saying he has played a major role in his career behind the microphone.
The award-winning afternoon drive-show host was recently honoured for the role he plays in the Maskandi music scene and his influence on the radio.
Ngobe bagged the honour of iMpucuzeko ka Maskandi Festival, but he decided the direct the focus and celebrated.
He said the award meant a lot to him because his mentor was part of the dignified guests and penned a lengthy message in the IsiZulu language.
“Being honoured in the presence of a person I looked up to, and to hear him speak so well about me, made me emotional,” he wrote.
“I was doing grade 7 when I used to listen to Linda on the radio, and to every presenter that has ever hosted a radio show. There is no one that I respect more than him because of his talent.
“Working with him on the radio was a dream come true because he shaped me to perfect my craft as a radio presenter. The words he spoke at the celebration while I was given a crown will always echo in my ears, God bless you, always.” Under the SABC radio portfolio, the Durban-based station remains one of the most loved stations as it broadcasts in isiZulu.
