Recently released Orlando Pirates defender Thulani Hlatshwayo is now heavily linked with a move to cross-rivals, Kaizer Chiefs.
Amakhosi are in a massive rebuilding phase after parting ways with a number of players including centre-back Daniel Cardoso in the past few weeks.
Under new coach Arthur Zwane, Chiefs are reportedly targeting the Soweto-born central defender who is still weighing his options following his move from the Buccaneers last week.
A local football website, Phakaaathi, has it that the former Bidvest Wits skipper could remain in Gauteng despite previously being linked with a move to the Durban-based AmaZulu.
“I know a lot of people will be surprised, but he would really go to Chiefs if they offer him a contract. You know sometimes, we just have conversations and this thing of Chiefs came up,” said the source.
“So, that’s when I realised that he won’t think twice about joining them if they really want him.
“Football is business and a short career, so, for him will all be about making sure that he revives his career and people see the old him. He didn’t have a good time at Pirates and we all saw that.
“But, such things happen and what I know for sure is that he won’t stay long without a team because people still believe in him.”
The ex-Bafana Bafana skipper spent most of his time on the bench at Mayfair and the lack of regular game time contributed to the loss of support from the hard to please Sea Robbers fans.
Apart from the link with the Glamour Boys, the burly defender is also tipped to join SuperSport United.
However, a move to Chiefs is highly likely as he will team up with former Bafana teammate in the form of Erick Mathoho at Naturena.
Remaining with transfer news and Chiefs, reports surfaced on Monday that Zwane and his technical team have agreed with Sekhukhune United for the services of midfielder Yusuf Maart.
The DStv Premiership side is said to have paid a staggering transfer fee for the 26-year-old enterprising midfielder.
