Royal AM boss Shauwn Mkhize mum on coach John Maduka’s resignation – Entertainment SA

Royal AM are reportedly set to hunt for a new coach following news that John Maduka has resigned from his position in favour of neighbours, Maritzburg United.

The Malawian manager is said to have tendered his resignation from the Thwihli Thwahla side and he is on his way to succeeding Ernst Middendorp at the Team of Choice.

Local media reports suggest that the former Bloemfontein Celtic boss has already agreed to join Maritzburg and he will be unveiled on Wednesday during an urgent press conference.

However, CEO Sinky Mnisi has decided to remain mum on the resignation, opting to refer media enquiries to the coach himself.

Maduka led the Chatsworth-based club to the second spot in the DStv Premiership standings as they qualified for a lucrative CAF Champions League spot.

“Just ask John about that, just wait until you get hold of him, I think it would be proper until you get word from John,” Mnisi is quoted by iDiski Times.

At the same time, the club owner Shauwn Mkhize was not available to provide clarity on the developments, but the publication published a response from the 2021/22 debutants.

“Miss Mkhize has been out of the country and away on leisure and business. She, unfortunately, is still suffering from jet lag and is getting some well-deserved rest,” said the club.

“She is not aware of any of the speculated news with regards to John Maduka.”

Maduka reached the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup as they lost to eventual champions, Mamelodi Sundowns and reports reveal that he was unhappy at the club.
