“Ridiculous”: Boston Celtics suspend coach Ime Udoka, for cheating with staffer – Entertainment SA

Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka has accepted the decision by the Basketball franchise to suspend him for the rest of the season, saying he is apologetic.
Udoka has reportedly been involved in an intimate affair with an unnamed female member of the organisation at Celtics.
Following a proble, Celtics decided to sideline the coach for the remainder of the NBA season and he also admitted to letting the team down.
Various media reports suggest that the Nigerian-American coach, Udoka, has been in a relationship with actress Nia Long since 2010, and could face punishment for his alleged transgressions.

While many reporters speculated that the 45-year-old coach would face consequences for his actions, the decision from the league became official on Thursday, and he has been suspended.
However, it remains unclear if Celtics will also institute a probe and possibly fine the lanky manager but the NBA side stressed that Udoka violated the team’s code of conduct.
In the wake of his suspension, the second-year coach issued a statement via ESPN, saying: “I want to apologize to our players, fans, the entire Celtics organization, and my family for letting them down. I am sorry for putting the team in this difficult situation.”
The sports website reports that assistant coach Joe Mazzulla will serve as the team’s interim head coach in Udoka’s absence.
According to Shams Charania of the Athletic, the outlet also reported that intimate relationships with fellow staff members is considered a violation of the franchise’s conduct guidelines.
@Thomas Trapnell reacted and said:
“This is completely ridiculous @celtics fine him. But to suspend him for a while season over a consensual relationship is asinine.”
@SSVTYU said:
“What consequences did the lady get?”
@Michael Tasca wrote:
“If I’m a manager, it’s a conflict of interest to sleep with employees, that’s a big no-no, we all know that, and the consequences are what they are.”

@Daesomst commented:
“Having a consensual affair with a coworker doesn’t mean you can’t be suspended by your employer. The Celtics don’t suspend him if this woman works at another job. It’s fair play and honestly, I cannot understand the confusion.”
