Novak Djokovic returns to court; Vaccines open to under-12s; Search for teen continues in Queensland floods

A doctor has sounded the alarm over vaccine supply as a “perfect storm” of demand for boosters and jabs for under-12s looms.

Melbourne GP Dr Todd Cameron said he had only able to order paediatric strength Pfizer doses for five- to 11-year-olds on Friday last week.

“We were surprised we were only able to get 200 doses,” he said.

“In terms of adult boosters, we have an order in place for 10,000 and we’re expecting that to come this week.”

He said the rollout of booster shots and under-12s vaccinations, along with healthcare staffing shortages, could put pressure on doctors.

“We learned the lesson throughout last year that we never open appointment slots until we get stock,” he told Today.

“It’s a nightmare to have to go back to hopefully parents – in this case – and young children, saying, ‘we have to re-schedule this’.”

But Health Minister Greg Hunt has said there is ample supply available to vaccinate Australian children.
