Kangaroo Rescued Amid Severe Flooding in Greater Sydney

Major flooding in parts of New South Wales (NSW) forced thousands of people to evacuate their homes on July 6, according to the State Emergency Service (SES). NSW SES said 108 evacuation orders affecting 57,000 people were in place on Wednesday, with evacuation warnings affecting a further 27,000 people. Footage by CARE NSW shows crews rescuing a kangaroo from the flooded Sydney suburb of Riverstone on Tuesday. The SES had evacuated parts of Riverstone on Monday. The weather system producing heavy rainfall moved away from Sydney towards the NSW Mid North Coast on Wednesday, with the Bureau of Meteorology warning of “life-threatening” flash flooding in the region.
