High price for apartment living: Brisbane unit fetches $6.8m

A HOUSE-SIZED riverfront apartment boasting one of the best views in Brisbane has sold for $6.8 million, as the luxury unit market comes of age.

The opulent sky home is in local developer, Tom Dooley’s tightly-held ‘Aquila’ building in New Farm.

Selling agent Tom Lyne of Ray White New Farm said the sale set a new record for the building and was, to his knowledge, the highest sale price for a turn-key apartment in the city so far this year.

“It’s not a downsize, it’s a right-size,” Mr Lyne said.

“These apartments are as good as, if not better, than some of the houses in the suburbs.”

Mr Lyne said the luxury apartment market in Brisbane was the strongest “it’s ever been”.

The views of the Story Bridge and CBD skyline are incredible.

Also last month, in the same building, unit 9/81 Moray Street sold for $6.6 million.

The 485 sqm unit is one of only 10 apartments in the development.

Nearby is a shared gymnasium and 20m heated pool.
