Former prime ministers urge support for Katherine Deves

Two former prime ministers have hit the hustings in the Sydney seat of Warringah – throwing their support behind controversial candidate Katherine Deves.

John Howard and Tony Abbott believe Ms Deves has a good chance of winning the seat from Independent Zali Steggall.

Mr Abbott, who held Warringah until his electoral defeat in 2019 at the hands of independent MP Zali Steggall, expressed pleasure with his return to the hustings and predicted Ms Deves would “surprise” people on election night.

“This fine woman is going to surprise people on Saturday night,” Mr Abbot said.
