Five bidders saw value in a weatherboard home set on a corner allotment in a prime pocket of Belmont at auction.

The vendors at 48 Apex Ave scored a $90,000 bonus after a range of buyers made a play for the three-bedroom residence.

Families, first-home buyers, downsizers and investors were all circling the 471sq m property that was listed with price hopes of $620,000 to $650,000.

A 60-strong crowd watched on as a local family paid $740,000 for the property, which is set close to Belmont’s High St and Highton Village.

The buyers, who are currently renting in the same street, plan to move in.

They said they liked the area, and the location close to schools and work.

Mr Moorfoot said six parties had registered to bid, with the neat-and-tidy home and location ticking plenty of buyer boxes.

“We had heaps of interest, a real mixture and a wide demographic of buyers,” Mr Moorfoot said.

“Everything is either a short drive or a quick walk away.

“We were chasing the mid $600’s, and with the competition, it was able to push there.

“It just goes to show the strength of the Belmont market and the location.”

Inside, the residence has three bedrooms, a renovated bathroom and light-filled living zone.

The original kitchen has a freestanding oven and cooktop and plenty of benchspace.
