Coalition ‘trashes their own credibility’: Chalmers

Treasurer Jim Chalmers says the Coalition “trashes their own credibility” by campaigning “against their own policy”.

The Labor government has refused to extend the fuel excise cut, which ends in September.

Mr Chalmers said people can’t take the Coalition “seriously”.

“It was only a few days ago that Angus Taylor was trying to go the government into ending this fuel excise relief and now they say they’re all for it,” he said.

“They get one bad Newspoll and spend $3 billion in one hit, I hope those polls don’t come out more regularly.”
