‘Absolutely vital’ Albanese attends Quad meeting: Outgoing trade minister

Outgoing trade minister Dan Tehan says it’s “absolutely vital” that incoming Prime Minister Anthony Albanese attends the Quad Leader’s meeting in Tokyo on May 24.

The leaders’ summit will bring together leaders from India, Japan, the United States and Australia to discuss issues the region is facing.

“I wish him well representing Australia on the world stage because it has never been so important that we get the right geo-strategic environment in the Indo-Pacific for the future of our nation,” Mr Tehan told Sky News Australia.

“It’s going to be one of the incredibly important challenges for this new government in making sure we are able to achieve that.”
